Upcoming STS Film: Ashes of Man

I just finished the script to my third movie! It's called Ashes of Man.  Now the fun begins: picking out a cast and crew.

Ashes of Man is intended to be Stranger Things Studios’ third movie. However, it is quite an undertaking.  I’m estimating it at 8-12 minutes when all is said and done.  It’ll be shot in roughly 11 outdoors locations, 4 indoor locations, plus dozens of setting shots throughout the cities. 

SYNOPSIS

Taking place in post-apocalyptic earth, 

Ashes of Man follows two separate characters as they attempt to mentally and physically survive in the radioactive wastelands of the American Midwest.  They constantly endure starvation; dehydration; the permanent cold; untrusting scavengers; pure anarchy; hedonistic savages; and the feral cannibals some men have become…

CAST

LEAD ROLES

Wastelander - Lead role and narrator.  After his wife dies in the nuclear explosions, he kills an elderly couple who will not let him inside their fallout shelter.  He’s left to suffer the shame of his actions as he hides inside.  After the war, he travels the wasteland, trying to make his way home.  He gets there, only to find it looted, and occupied by Burlap.  A fight breaks out between them, ending in a field, where he leaves Burlap crippled and helpless for the cannibals.

 

Burlap - Burlap is not introduced until after the nuclear fallout.  In his dreariness, he comes across an aimless, young woman.  They spend the night together.  However, come morning, he discovers that she only slept with him to steal his supplies and OD on his medicine.  The event scars him.  Being chased down by cannibals and trapped inside a garage only makes it worse.  As he starves to death, he becomes unstable.  Ultimately, he turns cannibal, and finds hiding inside Wastelander’s home.

SUPPORTING ROLES

Young Woman - The young lady who spends the night with Burlap.  She spends the night in emotional torment until she steals Burlap’s supplies.  Non-speaking role.

Lead Feral - The primarily featured cannibal, who chases down Burlap and is eventually killed by him.

CREDITED ROLES

Bum - Makes a supply trade with Wastelander.

Elderly Man - Most likely a voice role only.

Elderly Woman - Most likely a voice role only.

Wastelander’s Wife

Radio Broadcaster - Voice Role Only

Mugging Victim - Non-speaking role

Muggers, Cannibals

I will probably double up a lot of the roles, so that I’m not looking at 20+ people, including the crew.
